Stories in Transit aims to establish the right of displaced individuals to cultural expression, to encourage making stories and to inspire participants to draw on their own traditions and faculty of imagination. It is a collective and communal project.
The project does not ask for personal histories, though every participant can bring as much of their own experience as they wish to the story-making process. It uses anything to hand, materials and methods – drawing, painting, puppetry, gesture, music - easing communication across many languages. An analogy would be a public park in a city - not a square to which only the few have keys. To read more about our founding ideas and questions, look here.
Our main collaborators are Giocherenda, a Palermo-based art collective, who generate wonderful story games and activities. Here is more information!
