Stories in Transit XVII: Treekiller
This workshop at St-Leonard's-at-the-Hythe is taking place as part of the programme for Essex Book Festival. The story we will be working from on the day is of Erysichthon and Mestra, from Ovid's Metamorphoses. Erysichthon, renamed Treekiller for the workshop, finds the curse of hunger upon him when he chops down a sacred, ancient tree. It is a tale of a tyrant, the significance of a single tree, and - of course - transformation and growth.
